Duntle backed up his win in the Sandringham Handicap last June, with an impressive victory in the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday.

Duntle started a 5/2 favorite, at Bet365 Bet365, and never had punters worried, with the filly pushed along with two furlongs to go before hitting the lead and staying on well in the final 150 yards.

The win was the first Group race victory for the David Wachman trained filly.

Jockey Wayne Lordan was impressed with the character shown by the young horse.

“She travelled well. Although the ground is not ideal early on it’s a bit better from the two-furlong marker to the line. She’s done it okay, but will prefer better ground. Her heart is in the right place,” Lordan said.

The Danehill Dancer filly is likely to debut in Group 1 Company in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 8.

Duntle was the second winner for Lordan, on Thursday, with the jockey riding Galileo Rock to a storming victory in Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden.

Galileo Rock destroyed the field, beating the favorite Hall of Mirrors by seven lengths.

Lordan has high expectations for the half-brother of top stayer Saddler’s Rock and believes the colt may be a contender for next year’s Investec Derby.

“He’s a little bit babyish, but when he met the rising ground he changed his legs and the penny dropped,” Lordan said.

“He’ll definitely get a trip and he feels like he wants really nice ground – I thought it might be a bit slow with all the rain but he proved me wrong.”

Bet365 Bet365 now has Galileo Rock rated a 25/1 chance for the 2013 Investec Derby.
